AccountabilityAccountability is an ever increasing issue in both the public and the private sectors. Outrageous scandals like Enron or the USAF/Boeing case are often the only examples of serious impropriety to garner major media attention. Our e-procurement product can help prevent thousands of dollars wasted in administrative costs from other accountability issues that can be easily avoided with a complete and automatic accountability tool such as is used by the ElectronicTendering System (ETS). The ETS can help prevent instances of administrative oversights, inefficient protocols, and human error. Departments can find themselves compelled to re-issue a bid for the mere appearance of impropriety. This wastes more tax dollars directly by repeating the issuing process and indirectly through the loss of efficiency due to the increased work load. Suppliers face similar burdens, running up their costs which, ultimately, force them to raise their prices. The other, often overlooked, cost is the delay created in delivering the needed goods or services. This could create the sense that is difficult to do business with the government and companies become leery of doing business with the public sector. Those costs are incalculable and lead to bids being unanswered, no or low competition, and poor performance. A good accountability system that works with the tools offered by the ETS can avoid all of these issues and lead to a much more efficient and economical procurement cycle. |
